When you first get those labour pains, your mind will probably dissolve into complete disarray. Even if you have planned a C-section, you will still notice that the trip to the hospital is going to be filled with chaos. With the birth of your child imminent, it is easy to forget to take some of those essential items with you. Once you have given birth, however, you are going to realize just how much you require some of those items.
To avoid having to find a suitable substitution in the hospital, it is important to pack a bag for you as well baby bags. This way, when the time comes, you will have everything you need, on hand. Here are some of the things that you should make sure to take with you:
One thing you should definitely remember to pack is a pair of your most comfortable night clothes. If you forget to do this, you will probably have to spend the night in a flimsy hospital gown. Those are neither comfortable, functional, nor flattering. You are going to need something soothing to settle down in after all of your hard work. You should consider opting for a nursing bra and top, however. Remember, you will have to be nursing your baby throughout your stay and should be prepared accordingly. Don’t forget a pair of slippers that you can wear when walking around the hospital as well. This way, you will not have to keep pulling your shoes on.
You should pack in your toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, and moisturizer. Add in anything else that you can think of. This serves two functions. First, having these comforts of home will help you to feel more settled. It will also be a lot more calming for you to have things that are familiar to you. Finally, you are going to be bombarded with visitors. You will probably feel a lot better if you are able to clean up a little.
Your Newborn’s Things
You should also think about what your newborn is going to need. While the hospital might provide you with some of these things, it is still a good idea to be prepared. This means taking along a pack of newborn diapers in the Guguu nappy bags. You should also have a set or two of clothes that are adequate for that particular time of the year. Unless, you are very sure what size your baby is going to turn out, you might want to take a couple of size options. After all, not all babies fit into the infant sizes and may require something a little larger. Put in a pair of socks and some gentle toiletries meant for newborns.
Camera and Other Memorabilia-Makers
You might not want the birth filmed or documented. Nonetheless, you are still going to want pictures of your newborn. This is why it is a good idea to pack a camera in. While your phone will suffice, you should ensure that you have a powerful piece of equipment to capture important moments. You may also want to include a baby book to jot down the events as they are taking place. You can even get one of those sets that help to get your little one’s palm or footprints.
These are the most important things that you are going to need before going to the hospital. About a month before you are due, pack up all of these items and place them in your car or near the front door. You never know when you might need all of it.
